From 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 20, the Venezuela team hosted a webinar event with experts from Insight Crime and the International Crisis Group to hear about organized crime, corruption, and the problematic ‘narcostate’ narrative. This event was held following the publication of our recent report, “Beyond the Narcostate Narrative,” which discusses these themes in greater depth. Our experts led a discussion on this ‘narcostate’ narrative, which many hardliners in Venezuela and the U.S. have invoked to argue that a negotiated solution is not viable in Venezuela.
