I should point out that this interview was actually done two weeks ago. Yesterday the prospects for quality observation on the part of Unasur dimmed significantly with Venezuela’s veto of Brazilian Nelson Jobim and Brazil’s subsequent withdrawal from the observation mission (see Reuters coverage here). We will have to keep an open mind to see what the probable naming of Argentinian Jorge Taiana. But the withdrawal of Brazil from the mission does not look good.
