Today I participated in a discussion on Democracy Now! along with my colleague Miguel Tinker Salas, for a discussion of the latest on Venezuela and the US (the video file is too big to upload to the blog but you can watch or read the transcript here). My goal in participating was to argue that you can resist and criticize the Trump Administration’s Venezuela policy without reducing the situation to it. As I say at the end of the interview, using the logic of “enemy of my enemy is my friend” to give madurismo a critical bye or to misportray Venezuelan opposition to Maduro’s government is not progressive, its dehumanizing and insensitive to the very real suffering of Venezuelans.
